Whatever you are doing this summer, whether you have a few weeks or just a few days away, it’s time to recharge your batteries and leave routine behind. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your precious summer break.
Take time to rest
We can be so busy thinking about what we want to pack in, and whether we are going to have a flare-up, that we forget the essential – taking time out and relaxing. By taking essential time to rest, you give yourself the opportunity to reduce IBS symptoms. So don’t feel guilty about “doing nothing”. Make the most of siestas and quiet time. Your body will thank you for it.
Get some quality “me” time
This can be particularly challenging if you have young children around, but try to delegate any family responsibilities to a partner, friend, other Mum or Dad for a couple of hours – and chill out by yourself. You will feel so much better for it.
Keep meals light and simple

Fit in some light exercise
After resting and digesting, there is nothing like some gentle exercise to wake you back up. A few refreshing lengths in the pool, cycling, walking along the beach – do a little of whatever you enjoy most and reap the benefits.
Live for now
Forget everything for a little while. If you don’t do it now, then when are you supposed to? Turn off your phone and forget about thinking and planning, Just enjoy now. Listen to the sounds around you, breath in the air deeply, really feel where you are, and reconnect with the beauty of the world around you.
